Today we went back to the eye doctor for a check-up. Evelyn looks amazing and we can stop patching. Wooohooo!
At our last visit the doctor asked us to look through our photos to detect any head tilts or signs of eye problems. So today I took my laptop to the visit because I had so many pictures. After looking through the pictures she didn't see any head tilts or early signs until the Christmas pictures of 2008. Which was a relief for me, because I was worried that I had missed something. Then I showed her the pictures in Jan. of her eye crossed and she was amazed at how crossed it was (remember this is a different doctor than last time).
She also aked that I write down any questions I had and bring my list to the visit. So here are the questions we asked and the answers we got.
1. How does her eye look now? It looks great and is back to normal.
2. What do we do know? You can stop patching and go back to normal.
3. Will this happen again/when she gets a cold or virus? Yes, this will probably happen each time she gets sick. So the goal is to keep her from getting sick.
4. Will she grow out of this? Most likely yes.
5. Will we have to do surgery if she doesn't grow out of it? No. You will only have to do surgery if her eye crosses and continues to stay crossed for several months with no improvement. This usually means that nerve has stopped working or her brain as given up on the eye. Very unlikely to happen.
6. What do we do when her eye crosses again? Notify the doctor and begin patching immediatly. Follow up in two weeks, if improvement, no need to bring her in for a visit. If no improvement or questions, bring in for visit.
7. When do you want to see Evelyn again? Every six months due to her condition.
8. Can you be Evelyn's primary Eye doctor? Yes
9. When do we have Evelyn's vision screening? We checked her eyes at the last visit (november) and her eyes are fine vision wise.
All in all a good visit, very informative. I pray and hope for good health in 2010.
